As Halloween season is upon us, we felt it was only right to inspire you with some black and white interiors. A monochrome interior has been a well-loved design for many years because it is chic and classic. It is effortless to create a stylish interior with black and white as it is simple yet dramatic because the colours are polar opposites. In this blog, we take a look at the many different ways you can incorporate these contrasting colours into your interior.
Add a Hint of Black
There is a rule that every room should have a hint of black because it draws in attention and creates a statement. You may think this wouldn’t work in a pastel interior or a room that includes jewel tones, but you would be wrong to think so. You can add black in the smallest of ways, and it will still create an impact in the room. For example, you can use black accessories, such as lights or mirrors. Black works exceptionally well against a white wall, so consider black picture frames or wall lights to add a contrasting feature. White reflects light, while black absorbs it, so using the two together in a bathroom works perfectly! Our handcrafted wire cage lights are a beautiful addition to a bathroom; they are subtle as you can see through the light fitting. Therefore, it doesn’t take away from the interior design.

Get Cosy with A Fireplace
As the colder weather draws in, there is nothing better than cosying up by a roaring fire. Whether you have a modern or tradition fireplace, using black can make it the focal point of the room and create a cosy interior. Black is a striking colour and pairs perfectly with any other colour, so it is great for any fireplace, in any style interior. We love the contrast in the interior below; the black fireplace against a white wall is a match made in heaven! Our brass light and the accessories above the fireplace work beautifully with the monochrome theme and add an element of added elegance to the room. Retro Pendant Lighting is a brilliant way to bring a statement to an interior, and the metallic tones work beautifully with any colour scheme.

Go Monochrome in The Kitchen
The kitchen is a place we spend a lot of our time in; it is somewhere to prepare and cook food while also a space to host guests. With it being the centre of a home, you want it to be beautifully decorated and what easier way than with a monochrome theme! By using black and white in the kitchen, you can decide where the focus lies; whether it is the kitchen cabinets, the worktops or the lights!

A trio of lights above a kitchen island works perfectly because it not only creates a striking feature, but it also illuminates the area well. Pewter and copper are both metallic tones that work exceptionally well in a monochrome interior; pewter blends in more with the theme, whereas copper can add a shining statement.

Be Subtle with Wall Lights
It can sometimes be daunting to incorporate black into your interior but don’t think you have to go heavy with it; you can add subtle hints. Vintage wall lights are the perfect way to add contrast to white walls, especially with pewter tones. Against a white wall, pewter is both contrasting and complementary; they are opposites yet work so well together! Not only are they handy lights to have, but they are also a beautiful focal point.

Contrast Your Commercial Space
Monochrome interiors not only work beautifully in home interiors, but they are also perfect for commercial spaces too! You want your space to stand out from the rest, be memorable to your guests and showcase your company in the best light possible. You can easily work with a black and white theme and put your own stamp on it by choosing a feature colour; this could be bold, such as red, or it could be subtle, such as metallic tones. The Bootlegger has created a contrast by using brass lights in a black interior; this is a beautiful combination of tones because the brass makes a statement. Whether you have a bar, restaurant, office or shop, our lights work in any interior theme! Get inspired and take a look at our catalogue.

Hang Up Some Monochrome Artwork
You don’t have to renovate your interior to incorporate some black and white; you can simply hang up some artwork. Artwork is an excellent way to fill up wall space and create a focal point in the room. Here at Industville, we are advocates for original artwork and support up and coming artists.
