Industville Lights Feature On BBC’s Million Pound Menu

There are a plethora of reasons to opt for industrial style lighting, but versatility is certainly one of them, and can help you to be flexible with your style choices. Whether you’re looking to renovate your home in a mammoth DIY challenge, or you’re a restauranteur in need of a revamp; our lights make the perfect addition and can take you one step closer to completion.

Here at Industville, we truly believe that our lights are suitable for projects of all shapes and sizes, regardless of any pre-existing or desired themes of décor. Don’t believe us? Take the recent example of two of our range featuring in BBC2’s Million Pound Menu, whereby our lights were a staple part of décor for 12 separate pop-up restaurants. Each restaurant offered a different cuisine, was aimed at a different audience and had their own branding preferences, and yet two products from our industrial lighting collection were deemed appropriate for all.

The show consists of budding restauranteur’s, who wish to turn their dreams into reality as their culinary creations compete for the opportunity to go from pop-up to profit with the help of eye-watering investments. 12 innovative ideas claim to have a winning formula for success and compete for life-changing sums of money. Each new concept is given a pop-up restaurant that fits 40 diners, in the centre of Manchester – the food capital of the north – and attempts to win the hearts of the paying public with delicious food and the banks of the investors with new ideas that have potential for growth.

More than £33 billion was spent on eating out in the UK alone last year, and the industry continues to go from strength-to-strength, with everyone from seasoned professionals to avocado enthusiasts getting involved. Although food and drink play a major role in the overall enjoyment of an establishment, there are many other important factors, including customer service, comfort and, crucially, the overall atmosphere of the restaurant itself. That’s where Industville came in.  Our industrial lights were chosen to ensure the décor was just as on trend as the culinary creations being served, regardless of the type or style of food on offer.

The biggest requirement of our lights for this project was versatility. With pop-ups offering a wide range of cuisines, from uber-cool Cuban food and a taste of East Asia to a menu based around bubble & squeak, the décor needed to accommodate and complement any style of design. Our lights are available in a wide range of different styles, colours and designs, meaning there’s a light – or ten – to suit any existing or desired interior design theme. Given that the programme is about a variety of fresh new ideas that are bang on trend, our lights were the obvious option and highlighted just how fantastic the dishes were.

For example, the Cheese Wheel is a quirky idea that aims to makes fresh pasta from, perhaps unsurprisingly, a cheese wheel. This original idea is mirrored by the retro nature of the light grey enamel lights, which cascades a warm glow over the delightful Italian dish. The pendant includes a cage, and a clunky chain, which works well with the futuristic aspect of the idea, and the light grey colour is easy to pair with other elements of décor.

Similarly, Finca is an ideal based on Cuban food, and the pop-up restaurant looked fantastic under the warm glow of the Copper Old Factory Pendants. The bright colours often associated with Cuban culture are displayed through bold and beautiful artwork on the walls, which works particularly well with the vivid, vibrant copper shade.

The pop-up shops also featured various interior design trends as described on our recent blogs, including greenery, original statement art, exposed brickwork, metallic accents, vintage accessories and dark walls. Altogether, this provided a comfortable atmosphere for diners to focus on the delectable dishes in front of them, while enjoying the desired ambience.
