Here at Industville, we love both the quality design of our lights and the materials we use. All of our industrial lighting is made with the finest metals, including:
- Brass
- Copper
- Pewter
These materials are not only stunning in their own right, they’re also incredibly versatile, pairing wonderfully with a wide range of colours. We’ve picked some of our favourite complementary and contrasting shades in the graphic below, to inspire you to create amazing interiors with these beautiful materials.
Brass in Interior Design
Brass is a wonderfully luxurious material. With echoes of gold, it’s a great way to add a touch of extravagance to any interior.
This shade pairs particularly well with clean, minimalist spaces that allow it to stand out. Use a clean brass fixture in white or black spaces to create impactful modern interiors. Alternatively, brass looks fantastic against a deep blue, which can be used to provide a twist on more traditional decors.
Brass also works incredibly well as an accent for bold, bright colours. Pair our brass retro pendant lighting with a statement wall to create an eye-catching interior.

What Colour Looks Good with Copper?
If you want to add a touch of warmth to your interior, copper is a perfect choice.
Copper pairs particularly well with other natural materials and colours. An old wooden fixture can be given new life through the vibrancy of copper, while it can also provide a great contrast against light greys and whites.
For a more modern twist on this classic shade, consider pairing copper with soft greens, purples and pinks to create dynamic, luxurious spaces with an added sense of comfort.

Pewter’s Complementary Colours
Pewter is an incredibly versatile tone to work with in interior design. No matter whether you want a traditional or contemporary space, pewter will add a touch of class.
For a classic look, compliment pewter with soft, emotive colours. A white space with pewter lights can look very elegant, while using tones such as blues and browns can add to the cosiness of the space while still keeping its class.
If you want to create spaces with a bit more energy, consider using pewter accents against natural tones like yellows and greens. Adding a touch of colour is a great way to bring the subtle beauty of pewter to the forefront of your interior.
