What IP rating do I need for my bathroom lights?

The required IP rating depends on the specific 'zone' within your bathroom.

Zone 0 - Lights inside your bath, shower, or anywhere else classed as submersible will require a minimum rating of IP67.
Zone 1 - This zone is directly above your bath or shower up to 2.25m. Lights in these spaces require an IP65 minimum, ensuring protection against water and any other substantial water ingress.
Zone 2 - This refers to anywhere from 0.6m to 2.25m around your bath or shower. A minimum IP64 rating is required for these spaces.
Zone 3 - This zone is anywhere outside zones 0 to 2 and has no water jets.

How is the wiring and installation handled for IP-rated bathroom lights?

Due to the critical safety requirements for electrical installations in bathrooms, a qualified and certified electrician must carry out all wiring and installation of our IP-rated bathroom lights. Bathroom update 🖤 Still waiting on my blind but after 3 months the bathroom is finished. Having an old house definitely caused extra problems for us. we needed to replace the walls and floors before we could get anywhere started 🙄. We've went for Victorian emerald glass tiles in the shower and on the sink unit. Black Catalan tiles on the floor. Walls are painted in farrow and ball Setting plaster colour matched by decoratingcentreonline which was great service and is the exact colour of FB. Have a great week insta 🖤
