Industville is proud to have played a key role in shaping the atmosphere of The Story (shown below), with carefully selected lighting that enhances the cabin’s warmth and character. From rich brass to dark rattan finishes, each piece was chosen to create a cohesive, inviting space that supports relaxation and wellbeing.

We spoke with Kip & Nook’s founder, Ben Rennison, to learn more about his vision and how Industville lighting helped bring it to life.

How did Kip & Nook come about?

Ben: "My family have owned the farm for generations, but the idea came to me when I stayed there during lockdown in 2020 and thought it was the perfect semi off-grid getaway for those seeking a moment to unwind.

Since then, we’ve transformed it into just that - a collection of unique rooms that offer the perfect escape from the demands of modern life."

What is the layout of the space?

Ben: "We wanted it to be versatile for our guests so have multiple spaces for groups of all sizes; from the large barn that sleeps 8 to intimate cabins. There are eight different spaces total with an additional cabin to be opened by this summer so plenty of choice. The property also has a bar, restaurant and communal spaces for socialising, events or even a place to work (shown below)."

What are the key benefits of staying at Kip & Nook?

Ben: "We wanted to have a strong focus on wellness and relaxation in every space, so every detail is hand-picked to provide guests with a dose of nature, mindful disconnection from the hustle and bustle of modern life along with a healthy balance of meaningful social interactions.

We have introduced activities such as ice baths, saunas, a run club and yoga to allow guests to support this focus on wellness and give guests the ultimate place to unwind in the stunning Yorkshire countryside."

Can you tell us a bit more about the new cabin?

Ben: "Each dwelling on the property is uniquely designed and named after something that has inspired its character. From the Pines and the Sky that are inspired by the surrounding landscape to more personal ones such as the Albert named after my son, the Bon Bon after my niece Bonnie and Buddy named after one of our teams’ playful pets.

The theme of the newest cabin The Story was inspired by the UK’s top film photographer, Benj Story’s, film photography of exhibition Terra Visum - it showcases brilliant landscape work from around the world shot over the last few years is on permanent exhibit in the cabin. The space itself evokes a rustic warmth and innate comfort that is facilitated by the lighting collaboration with Industville."

How did Industville play a part in the design?

Ben: "Collaborating with Industville was key to bringing my vision to life at Kip & Nook. Our cabins are designed to soothe the senses and help visitors disconnect, so lighting is key to this. I have always loved the alternative style that Industville has, bridging the gap between minimalism and a homely aesthetic to create rustic warmth in a variety of settings.

Although the materials differ from room-to-room, whether rich brass or dark rattan, it was important to have consistency throughout. Exclusively using Industville wall and ceiling lights meant the aesthetic was harmonious, and it was easy to customise each fitting as we needed as well as adding more technical elements such as dimmers for a relaxing atmosphere."

Thank you to Ben for sharing his insights into the creation of Kip & Nook.
